Having lived for some time in Malaysia the client brought back this statement parasol fabric from Jim Thompsons and asked me to make her something unique.
It seemed intuitive to pick out one of the parasols using the wonderful green colour of the seat – deciding it would be too heavy to use the velvet, we picked out a range of complimentary chiffons to layer over the parasol, then the individual spokes and parasol handle were oversewn to clarify the design.
The chair swivels so that the embroidery can often be seen even though its on the back of the chair.
